Macro and Floral Photography
On a mellow summer Saturday surrounded by lovely woodlands, we enjoyed the Hydrangea Fest & Flora Photography at Lanark Nature Center in Millbrook, Alabama. To kick off the day, professional photographer, Quincey Banks, shared tips for creating successful macro and flora photography.
Maria Pacheco-West, Lanark Grounds Specialist, demonstrated how to grow, prune, root and dry the flowers for crafts.
After the talk, our guide led us on a walking tour of the woodland hydrangeas and formal gardens.
The plant sale of flowers and shrubs grown in the gardens was an added bonus. Lanark Nature Center offers the Alabama Outdoor Classroom Program that provides free technical and organizational assistance for schools who wish to create a sustainable outdoor classroom site to be used as an effective educational tool for hands-on, outdoor learning opportunities. (Mark your calendars for the October Outdoor Expo at Lanark, coordinated by April Waltz)
